Not really comparable in terms of price, but they both have between 350 and 400 horsepower, both RWD, but each has a very different character. Which would you choose to own for a year?

Vantage hands down. Of course I'd have to pull fuse 22 first, though.

Vantage V8.
The 991 is superior in every aspect, save perhaps the classy interior of the Vantage.
It will drive harder, it goes faster, it nails apexes better and all around its the better daily driver/track rat of a car.
But the Vantage makes me laugh. It has an exhaust from Zeus himself. It barks and cackles and doesn't really care and yet it still seems very distinguished and classy.

I would have to defy common sense and pick the V8 Vantage.

The Porsche. So I'll know I won't have to fix it for the year I own it.

Vantage, VANTAGE, VANTAGE.
No question. I know im not going to get 100% out of either car, so I might as well get the one that makes me feel special.

Vantage. Because the Porsche is far too pedestrian.

Porsche. Because the Vantage is far too likely to make you a pedestrian.

Yes

Vantage, way too gorgeous to pass up. The 911 is the better car in just about every way, but it just doesn't give me the James May "fizz feeling"
![]() 08/06/2013 at 13:12 |

Depends. I drove a Vantage V8 once, with Aston's "Automatic" "transmission."
As you can tell, I really was not impressed.
Put a stick in it? I'd give it another chance for sure.
![]() 08/06/2013 at 13:12 |

But it will be the most beautiful paperweight I would ever sit in.
![]() 08/06/2013 at 13:13 |

Vantage because of that V8.
![]() 08/06/2013 at 13:15 |

The Porsche is the better all around car, therefore I choose Aston. Because racecar.
![]() 08/06/2013 at 13:16 |

For a year, the Aston Martin for sure. For a decade? The 911.
![]() 08/06/2013 at 13:16 |

Pfft, only a base Carrera.

LOL no contest. an aston martin is infinitely cooler than a non GT3 or GT2 911 any day of the week. I see 911s every day, I see astons once a year if Im lucky.

The Vantage for sure, it just oozes class, sounds amazing and is a freaking Aston Martin. I would always same my name as Smurph...Punk Smurph.

HAHA awesome!!!
![]() 08/06/2013 at 13:28 |

Totally nailed it. I feel the same way.
The Porsche is faster and better but the Aston has a bit more character with it's crazy loud exhaust ( since I pulled Fuse 22 ) and svelte British lines. BUT, it was built in a shed....so there's that.
![]() 08/06/2013 at 13:29 |
|
But...it's not a racecar.
![]() 08/06/2013 at 13:29 |

Oh yeah, no that's terrible. Ours is a 6-speed.
![]() 08/06/2013 at 13:32 |

Yes, but it was a FORD shed.
Yea, that still wouldn't give me much comfort.
![]() 08/06/2013 at 13:32 |

Infinitely?
Debatable...
![]() 08/06/2013 at 13:33 |

Oh it gives me the fizz. Big time.
The only car I've driven of late that reminds me of the Cayman. And everyone knows those are the TITS!

Nothing to scoff at. The base Carrera is a true performer, especially since we've got the Sport Chrono pack which adds the active engine mounts.

THAT'S A ZINGER.
![]() 08/06/2013 at 13:40 |

I guess since I've never driven a current Porsche, I really cannot factor in the whole experience. Based on looks however, The Aston wins hands down.

Just shush with your logic you.
![]() 08/06/2013 at 13:43 |

I'd take the Vantage for a weekend.
But I'd take the 911 for a year.

My first thought, "Hmmm, looks kinda like a nipple or something".
Wait, what were we talking about?
![]() 08/06/2013 at 13:59 |

Nipples.

Since the Aston Martin is a manual, definitely the Vantage. Otherwise, the 911.
Here in Montreal we're lousy with 911s. To paraphrase Mark Twain , you can't throw a rock in this city without scratching the paint on a Porsche 911. The Aston Martins are uncommon; I may have seen more Maseratis on the street here.
![]() 08/06/2013 at 14:20 |

Aston. Hands down. I'm absolutely completely in love with every line of that car. So what if it's a bit older, it's still more beautiful.
![]() 08/06/2013 at 14:24 |

That greatly depends.
For short distances, lots of nice days, and car shows and such, lots of recreation time, and some showing-off, Vantage.
For long road trips and actual day to day driving, Porsche, especially if it were to involve inclement weather, and one could opt for the 991 Carrera 4 or 4S, rather than the RWD Carrera. No such option on the Aston Martin.

Vantage V8, and Actually if you look for a 2006 model or even a 2008 vantage its come out to about the same as a 911.
![]() 08/06/2013 at 15:14 |

Vantage. This is why:
![]() 08/16/2013 at 09:37 |

Vantage. No questions asked. I find the styling or Porsche's to be incredibly boring and never changing, that's a good thing for some people...just not me.
And being a big Corvette Racing fan...it's hard to pick an Aston.
